Part of what makes the best running hoodie is the capability to wick moisture. Hoodies are generally bulky and will retain the excessive body heat you generate while running. This will inevitably cause increased perspiration. Almost all of the hoodies and sweaters we chose to use synthetic polyester fabric blends that don’t retain moisture keeping you dry throughout your run.
Generally not a first consideration, but the wind can make a significant and noticeable difference during a run. Should you encounter a particularly strong headwind you will need to expel more energy to fight the wind. Alternatively, a strong south wind can seem to add a bounce to your step and help to keep you going. With this in mind, we decided to include a windproof sweater. This, however, is a double-edged sword because it would amplify the wind in both directions. A northwind would be particularly taxing and a south wind might get you closer to flight than you intended.
With many hoodies and sweaters, the goal is to find that perfect middle ground that will support you when it's just not cold enough for a jacket but too cool for a normal shirt. Â We decided to include a diverse selection of hoodies and sweaters that all used a different blend of materials and thickness to provide the best choice for your particular needs.
Comfort
A key trait of conformance is the pricing point of a product and this includes running hoodies and sweaters. In order to provide not only the best hoodies or sweaters but the best price. We compared the cost, features, and functionality of these hoodies and rated them based upon an assessed value. Those items that possessed a higher assessed value were placed higher on this list than those with a lower assessed value.
Your clothing style is nearly as unique as your fingerprint. These small and subtle additions to your outfit may not seem like it would make much of a difference but it's what makes you stand out from everyone else. Another critical trait we considered was the sizing perimeters weighed heavily when we were deciding the placement of these running hoodies. The sizing varies wildly however the least accommodating hoodie provided sizes between small and 2XL. The most accommodating hoodies covered sizes from XS to 5XLT.
An overwhelming majority of these hoodies used a cotton and polyester composition fabric. This combination of fabrics makes a hoodie that is well suited to running. Polyester is a synthetic fabric and as we already know won’t retain water. The cotton works to retain heat and keep you warm. Those hoodies that didn't use this fabric composition generally used 100% polyester or polyester mixed with polyurethane composition fabric. The main advantage of being far superior moisture wicking. No matter your choice each of these running hoodies and sweaters does what they are intended to do, keep you warm.
Durability
Finding running hoodies and sweaters that can withstand the demands of a longer or more intense run was quite the task. The intensity of the consistent movement of a run will put the strength of your hoodie to the test. In an attempt to ensure these hoodies and sweaters could endure many rigorous workouts we tried to only select hoodies that used some synthetic polyester blend. The synthetic material is tear resistant and much less likely to breakdown over time.
Inclement weather is a concern for many runners. The nasty combination of frigid rain and howling winds are a sure way to stop many runners in their tracks. Providing you with that extra layer of protection we selected a few waterproof running hoodies that will keep those elements at bay. Using a three-layer design these hoodies keep water out but allow moisture and trapped heat to escape. This, however, was not a mandatory function and you will need to check the specific hoodie you’re interested in to see if it possesses this lovely trait.
The cleaning method that is required by these hoodies and sweaters plays a large part in determining their durability. While hand washing is tiresome and can be a nuisance it is also a more gentle process than machine washing. Alternatively, machine washing is quick and easy however it can cause your hoodies and sweaters to stretch or shrink. Regardless of your preferred method each of these hoodies and sweaters can be cleaned in a fashion that suits your needs.
While running may not seem very risk-averse it does have its own unique set of dangers and hoodies surprisingly enough can cause one. The hood on you hoodie can interfere with your line of sight and quickly leave you running blind. While this can occasionally be humorous should this happen and traffic be nearby it could prove fatal. Usually, an afterthought when buying a new running hoodie or sweater, we tried to include seamless options. Seams have a way of slowing you down and the constant friction source will cause undue irritation.
