Best Reebok Running Shoes Reviewed & Rated for Quality

last updated Aug 06, 2019

Did you know that Reeboks humble beginnings go all the way back to the late 1800s? That’s right! In fact, 14-year-old Joseph William Foster began making some of the first running shoes with spikes in the right in his very own bedroom.

Originally J. W. Foster, and then J. W. Foster and Sons, these companies are attributed with creating the shoes that changed the entire sport of track running and sports at large.
And in the late 1950s, two of J. W. Foster’s grandsons opened their own sporting goods company called Reebok.

Reebok has now been making high-quality and innovative sports gear for 60 years, and a stand out among their products are their running shoes.

With some of the best marathon shoes on the market today and tons of other specialized options for support and comfort, Reebok is an industry leader.

Criteria Used for Evaluation

Fit

In terms of fit, we try to draw your attention to whether or not shoes run larger or smaller than the buyer expects.

Reebok as a brand is not super consistent in this regard. Some shoes run true to size, while others run small and large. For this reason, we clearly state what we found in reviews for each shoe to help guide your purchasing process.

You can always go to a store and try on a pair and then order online if the cost is cheaper. And if you can spare the change, you can also order a few pairs to try on at home and return the items that do not fit.

Weight

Weight in an important factor to consider when you are purchasing a pair of running shoes. We go into tons of detail below in our Frequently Asked Questions section, but as a general rule, lighter shoes are designed for speed and heavier shoes are designed for support.

If you are planning on running sprints and speed is at a premium, you will want to go with a lighter shoe to spur you along.

If you are running longer distances, you are going to want to go with a kick that has more padding and more support so that you protect your feet and joints. Thankfully, these shoes are all pretty lightweight because of their lightweight padding, so you don’t have to worry about being held back too much by super heavy shoes.

Breathability

In terms of breathability, we want to make sure to present products that allow your toots some fresh air so that you don’t end up with puddles in your shoes.

The mesh uppers on most of the shoes on this list allow a great amount of airflow which helps your feet to breathe during your run. If you combine this with specialized socks for sweaty feet, you will be able to run in supreme comfort.

Comfort

Which brings up to comfort. Reebok running shoes are known to be super comfortable. They feature innovative sock liners (insoles), midsoles, and outsoles to give you lightweight support and comfort that lasts throughout your run.

These shoes are also so comfortable that people turn to them not only for running but for super long work shifts where they are on their feet all day (and sometimes all night).

Value

When considering value, we always want you to get the most out of every dollar. And as far as running shoes go, these are very affordable ones. As you might expect, the lighter weight shoes will wear out more rapidly, but the more expensive, more substantial shoes will deliver a longer lifespan.

Consider Your Running Habits

It is very important to consider your running habits before purchasing a running shoe as not all running shoes are created equal. While this can seem a little frustrating, it actually serves you better as it creates a wider variety of specialized shoes so that you can get the right fit for you.

If you are new to running, recovering from an injury, looking for support for your ankles and knees, and plan on going for longer runs, you are going to want to go with a more substantial shoe--not one of the super lightweight options.

These shoes will last longer under high mileage and will also protect your body from repeated impacts.

If you plan on sprinting or using this for lighter wear, then feel free to go ahead with a lightweight shoe that won’t hold your speed back.

Order Two

Finding a shoe that you love can be super challenging. That’s why we suggest ordering an additional pair of any shoe that you fall in love with.

While companies are always trying to improve, sometimes the updates that they make to certain models end up being less desireable to you--and companies are constantly making updates.

So don’t count on being able to order your beloved pair again when your current pair wears out. Make sure you buy your next pair as soon as you know you’re in love so you can enjoy your sole mates for longer.

Other Factors to Consider

Color

While we know your workout gear’s main priority is for high functionality, it doesn’t hurt to have gear that looks nice too! Plus, one of the best ways to kickstart a habit or get back into the game is to have gear that is exciting to wear. This will encourage you to lace up and hit the track once again.

Versatility

When considering versatility, we are looking at where and how the shoe best performs. We love shoes that can transition from cold to warm weather, as well as running shoes that can be used in the gym or on the track. Plus, we love kicks that have enough traction and support to traverse a variety of different surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

q: Why does the weight of a running shoe matter?

a:

This is a matter of preference, of performance, and of necessity.

While it may seem like a few grams here and there on a running shoe don’t add up to much, running with a pair of shoes that is 100 grams lighter than another pair can actually shave at least 1 minute off of your run time if you are running a marathon distance.

So if this is the case, why not always go with the lighter pair of shoes? Because lighter shoes inherently have less cushion, padding, and support--that’s how they get away with being so much lighter.

If speed is your main squeeze and you are looking to take seconds off of your time, then a lighter shoe is definitely the way for you to go.

But if you are looking to correct or work on your form, or if you are recovering from injuries or simply enjoy running casually for fun, you may want to go with a slightly heavier shoe that is going to provide you with more comfort and support.

It is also worth noting here that the lighter weight the shoes, the faster you will run through them. Heavier shoes will last longer because they are comprised of denser materials.

q: What are the different parts of the sole?

a:

The sole of the shoe is made of 2 parts: the outsole and the midsole. They are made separately and then they adhere together. They serve different purposes for running shoes.
The outsole is just that--on the outside. This is the part of the shoe that makes contact with the track or with the ground.

There are a few types of rubber used for running outsoles. Carbon rubber is crazy durable and provides tons of support but it can sometimes be a bit rigid. Blown rubber, on the other hand, provides more comfort cushioning and flexibility. It is not uncommon for one shoe to have both types of rubbers.

The midsole of the shoe can be found between the sock liner and outsole. It is generally made of foams (either polyurethane or EVA). The construction of the midsole is what determines how cushiony or supportive your shoe is.

q: What is a sockliner?

a:

This is the part of the shoe that comes into contact with your socks. It is also called the insole because it is on the inside of the shoe. This part of the shoe is typically an insert that can be removed. What’s cool about this is that you can add inserts and other sock liners for customizable support.

The job of the insole or sock liner is to provide another layer of padding and to cover the seams in the bottom of the shoe so they don’t rub against the sensitive bottoms of your feet.

q: What is the upper of a shoe?

a:

The upper refers to the top part of the shoe that wraps around the top part of your foot. This is usually made of mesh or some other textile and works to provide support as well as breathability to the shoe.
